Owen Consulting Services Sustainability Statement
Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, and our way of playing an active role in shaping a future that allows present and future generations to thrive. We hold ourselves accountable for weaving sustainability practices into every aspect of the way we work and the way we work with others. It’s about making a meaningful contribution to the world, creating a positive impact on people, society, and the environment and planting seeds for a better and more sustainable future for all.
We focus on the practical steps we can take and believe that every activity has the potential for contributing to transformation of the whole. This means every small step counts, with this in mind we focus on three areas:
We focus on the practical steps we can take and believe that every activity has the potential for contributing to transformation of the whole. This means every small step counts, with this in mind we focus on three areas:
- Environmental and Economic Sustainability.
- Social Sustainability.
- Human Sustainability.
Environmental and Economic Sustainability
We look for sustainable practices where we can play a part in helping to reduce humanities collective ecological footprint in ways that will reduce the depletion of the environment and the natural world. This includes:
- Using renewable energy and reducing our energy consumption, supplying most of the energy requirements for our office through solar panels, the use of energy efficient lights and replacing or refurbishing inefficient IT equipment we have.
- Recycling and reduction of waste, we have a recycling program in our office, recycling cardboard, paper, glass and plastic. We look for ways to reduce waste by looking for ways to reuse and recycle where we can. We avoid buying single-use items that will quickly end up in a landfill and continue our transition to digital documents, and when hard copies of documents are required, we use recycled paper.
- Avoiding harmful chemicals and materials by using environmentally friendly alternatives. For example, instead of using disposable plastic bags, we use eco-friendly reusable cloth bags.
- Sourcing supplies locally, when possible, for everything from office and workshop supplies through to buying our fruit, vegetables, and snacks from local producers and outlets.
- Using environmentally friendly cleaning products such as hand soaps and cleaning sprays that do not contain harmful or toxic chemicals.
Social Sustainability
We see social sustainability and inclusion practices as being a cornerstone of addressing the many challenges we are currently confronted with to create a more sustainable future together. We are committed to creating sustainable communities which promote positive, healthy, safe and liveable spaces for present and future generations.
The ways we support social sustainability include:
The ways we support social sustainability include:
- Developing programs that help the surrounding communities and society at large through our volunteering of pro-bono coaching services at local universities and support of not-for -profit organisations such as LumiVoce - Voices for the Wild.
- Supporting the creation of workplace cultures where people feel empowered to make positive changes in their workplace and in their communities more broadly, through the delivery of our consultancy and coaching services.
- Our commitment to a Zero Harm work environment and the creation of safe and healthy workspaces where people can work, learn and grow – where they feel safe physically and psychologically and able to speak up.
Human Sustainability
We believe that human sustainability is a key mechanism and driver of sustainability. Our focus in the human dimension is on focusing our service delivery towards supporting the people we work with to thrive; on creating environments that enable vitality, learning and leadership to emerge; and on creating transformative experiences for people that cultivate and contribute to human sustainably.
This commitment includes:
This commitment includes:
- The central focus of our work in supporting leaders and their teams to connect, create and contribute at higher levels as they lean into these challenges and opportunities that are part of working to create a better and more sustainable future.
- Our devotion to shaping cultures where people and organisations can thrive and realise their potential.
- Our promoting of equality and fairness among all the people we work with, without considering their race, age, ethnicity, religion, gender, or other factors as an expression of our belief in the universal values of human dignity, fairness and compassion for everyone, everywhere. We see equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging as essential enablers of human potential and a sustainable future.
- Supporting the creation of new narratives that cultivate new ways of leading, thinking and working to support the leaders and their teams we work with to navigate their current challenges to make the most of the opportunities available to them that contribute to the creation of a better and more sustainable future.
